Rules of Development
  1. Keep in mind that this world may be published in one way or another. I encourage you not to integrate any concepts of a story or RPG world that you are creating and intend to publish independent of Aserra.
  2. Any ideas you use must be original, as if I publish this game, I would not like to get slapped with copyright infringement suit for a rip-off I didn't catch.
  3. Do not model any nations or cultures entirely after existing nations and cultures in the real world. You may use aspects of any existing cultures, though, and it would be best to mix things up too.
  4. There is a need to be reasonable with cultures, abilities, and the like that are created for Aserra. I don't want nations that are the epitome of perfection, or an entirely unreasonable set of abilities that causes them to be sensationally over powered compared to others of their race.
  5. I must give approval for anything major created by other players, so until I tell you that I'm ok with that, don't automatically assume that it'll be canon.

The Kuzo are reclusive and shy alone or in small groups, but when en-massed, they gain confidence and become aggressive. Very aware of their small size and that other races are smarter than they are, the Kuzo tend to avoid other races unless they know they can defend themselves. If they see any advantage over individuals of another race, they will take it; for example, if there is a union between clans near a small human farming village, the Kuzo will feel confident in being able to raid the village for food supplies. When it comes down to it, the Kuzo are a very primal race; their main motivations are food and reproduction.

Relations
The Kuzo are on good terms with no race. Most other races seem them as a serious threat, or at the very least, an annoying vermin. The Kuzo are threatened by the superior intelligence of other races, and most Kuzo fear them, but the smartest Kuzo resent them. However, Kuzo find these other races very attractive, and as a result, Kuzo males can be very eager to get their hands on a female of another race.

Play-Ability
Kuzo are a playable race, but there are many complications to playing them in an open-world game as other races are not fond of them, and they are not especially intelligent.

Kuzo (Goblins)

Kuzo
Pronunciation: KOO-zoh. Grammatically, they should be referred to as Kuzo in the singular, plural, and collective. An analogue for goblins, kobolds, or orcs (though mostly goblins).
The Kuzo are a race of short, primitive people that live in the wilds throughout temperate Aserra. They are an off-shoot of the human race, heavily corrupted in appearance and temperament to serve as foot soldiers during the War of the Gods by Ispa. Alone, a single Kuzo is not much of a threat, but when gathered, they can overwhelm their opponents. Location and Abodes
The Kuzo inhabit much of northern Thiskel and Kalesten, as well as the Forsaken Land. They prefer forested regions, which has kept them from spreading further than the Great Desert in Thiskel, and the Samiss and Ur’Idayn kept them from gaining any potential footholds in the southern Kalesten rain forests.

The Kuzo make homes of caves; either naturally formed caves, or caves which they have carved out of banks and hillsides. Caves are inhabited by entire clans of Kuzo, with the females and children spending most of their time in the caves or near the opening while males range over the countryside to hunt or scout. All-male hunting parties may be away for days or weeks at a time, leaving scattered camps that are often revisited on later forays.

Some Kuzo inhabit cities such as Gites in Serdenaugh, and cities in the Forsaken Land where they often are integrated into the labor force (they are commonly enslaved in the Forsaken Land as well).

Appearance and Garb
Kuzo are considered quite unattractive by human—and most other races’—terms. They are short, hunched creatures with greyish-green skin, prominent noses, and vicious teeth. Males stand around 4’5” to 5’ (1.3-1.5m) tall. Female are generally smaller, standing between 4’ and 4’5” (1.2-1.3m) tall. Their forms are human-lie, but somewhat distorted with hunched frames, often bloated bellies, skinny and sinewy limbs, and disproportionately large hands and feet. Their ears are reminiscent of the elemental races as they are long and stick out from the sides of their heads, but they lack the same cartilaginous structure, making their ears more flap-like, more like a donkey or a rabbit’s ears, but pointing from the side of their heads. Teeth are decidedly more carnivorous, with long pointed canine teeth and jagged molars.

Their hair is black to dark brown, usually thin and stringy, with most males balding in middle adulthood. In many clans, males opt to shave their heads completely, or may keep a top knot at the back of the skull where the hairline stops receding. Their eyes are similar to a cat’s, often coming in shades of yellow, varying from hazel to orange, with slitted pupils. Their iris covers nearly the entire visible eyeball with barely any sclera showing.

The Kuzo dress in skins, leathers, and rough woven cloth. Females are rather industrious and are responsible for tanning, weaving, and sewing garments, but their skill is not comparable to humans. Male hunters often wear leather armor, perhaps with hard wood or bone pieces that protect vital areas. They also will readily loot the corpses of their enemies to steal armor and clothing that they can modify to fit them.

Lifespans and Reproduction
A short lived race, they have the potential to live up to forty years, but most only live to twenty-five or thirty years due to poor conditions. They reproduce quickly; females begin ovulating from the age of 9-10 (which would be the equivalent of 13 years for a human) and often become mothers soon afterward. Their pregnancies are shortened to three months, with fraternal twins not being uncommon. Left alone, a female Kuzo can ovulate every two weeks, though after bearing a child their ovulation is held off for about a month. Females often bear child after child in quick succession.

Kuzo have very little consistency in their relationships. Stronger males may take to hording as many females into a harem as possible, while smaller males can sometimes seduce or rape a female if left alone. Other males may try to model themselves more after humans and attempt monogamous or polygamous relationships with willing females, ensuring their offspring’s survival personally. Yet others may simply take what they get at the moment. If a female presents herself to him or catches his interest, a male will take that opportunity. Each tribe usually develops its own personal relationship traditions, but females always get the short end of the stick as rape is a common method of conception. Kuzo females usually just accept this as a fact of life and get on with their lives. Regardless of how a Kuzo woman conceives, they are usually devoted mothers, while Kuzo males have varied roles in their offspring’s life—some only concern themselves when their male children mature enough to join hunting parties, while others can’t even be sure if the assorted children around camp are actually theirs or a comrade’s.

Kuzo males are also well known to rape females of other races if they can get their hands on them. Powerful clans may even raid villages and make off with the women of child-bearing age to fill their chieftain’s harem. Half-Kuzo can result from these unions.

Diet, Agriculture, and Hunting
A hunter-gatherer society, Kuzo males often spend much of their time hunting for game, while females and children gather fruits, vegetables, nuts, fungi, insects, and other items to eat. They are omnivorous, but prefer to eat meat cooked. The females are also responsible for cooking for their families and sometimes the entire community, and they can become quite creative with their meals depending on the abundance of food.

Religion
The Kuzo often follow shamanistic religion or hero-worship. Many clans have at least one individual who is talented in shamanism. These shamans become spiritual leaders to their community and provide magical support in battle. Kuzo also adore their heroes—chieftains (who win their place through strength), skilled hunters and warriors, and individuals who have made stands that impressed their fellows.

Magic and Abilities
The Kuzo have no inherent magical abilities, and are quite weak in psychic abilities, but some individuals present higher spiritual power and awareness, which leads them to become shamans. The Kuzo are also quite strong, despite their petite size.

Personality
The individual Kuzo is reclusive and wary, but en massed they gain confidence and become aggressive. Very aware of their small stature and that other races are smarter than they are, the Kuzo tend to avoid other races unless they know they can defend themselves. If they see any advantage over individuals of another race, they will take it. For example, if there is a union between clans near a small human farming village, the Kuzo will feel confident in being able to raid the village for food supplies. When it comes down to the core of the matter, the Kuzo are a very primal race; their main motivations are food and reproduction.

Relations
The Kuzo are on good terms with no race. Most other races see them as a serious threat, or at the very least, an annoying vermin. The Kuzo are threatened by the superior intelligence of other races and most Kuzo fear them, but the smartest Kuzo resent them. However, the Kuzo also find these races very attractive and captivating, and as a result Kuzo males can be very eager to get their hands on a female of another race.

Play-Ability
Kuzo are a playable race, but there are many complications to playing them in an open-world game as other races are not fond of them and they usually prefer to live within the comfort of their clans.
