Re: Eris, the Fallen One
There is always a price to power. The price a sorcerer must pay is knowledge that the world around you withers and dies. Most are arrogant and simply choose to ignore this seeing the power they wield absolute. But for what I needed stemmed beyond taking mana from the world. Ancient magic dictated at...

Re: Magic: Important Announcement, read or get kicked hard
Nah, thats DnD 4th ed. Magic items previous to that were rare as hell, even the low grade ones were like "holy poop, its blessed!", the current incarnation is pretty well bastardized fantasy setting, opting to bring in younger audiances with shinier rewards than a few gold pieces. I know I play my s...

Re: Magic: Sorcery
I think they live like, 200 years, give or take. The race is immortal, so I would imagine theres always a chance for beyond that. As for the new spell creation, i'd go with time equaling the amount of power. A small spell, one that draws little mana, might be easy to come up with. Something big, the...

Re: Eris, the Fallen One
Its amusing, really. I've never been religious, I always felt I had been abandoned by the gods. But I suppose I was blessed with beauty, and what I initially believed to be a very long life. But on my twenty fifth year on this wretched worlds, I noticed something out of place. A wrinkle. I had begun...

Re: Magic: Sorcery
Addiction would be primarily based off the person using it. In the little fic I was writting about Eris, she describes it as addictive, but then again, by her own experiance the feeling of power, and not the sorcery itself is addictive. A light tickling sensation probably wouldn't be addictive, but ...

Re: Eris, the Fallen One
Power is addictive, any fool who says otherwise is lying to you, or themselves. If it wasn't, there wouldn't be practitioners of sorcery. Of the schools, most tend to go into attack magic, as summoning can be dangerous... as for the third school, necromancy, I believe there are far more in Emkal tha...

Re: Magic: Sorcery
More than likely, it is a "Do anything" school of magic, because it forces the world to bend to your will. Generally though, it would be a matter of experiance. A novice sorcerer could attempt higher end spells, but more than likely they would probably mess it up (drawing in more mana, harder to con...

Re: Eris, the Fallen One
Its amazing how wounds inflicted by someone you've grown to trust are the most brutal. While I was with my mother, I grew aware that I would take a beating if she became angry, even if I wasn't involved with the situation. I always expected it, which made me a bit more numb to the pain. After it was...

Re: Eris, the Fallen One
I knew well enough that the person who took me in had less than altruistic goals, but this realization came well after I went there. I recognized his looks as sizing my form up, I recognized that from my mother's own gazes at potential clients. Still, I was fed, clothed, and kept out of the cold. I ...

Re: Eris, the Fallen One
Its amusing that my precognition took on form after I was kicked out of my home. I still recall the night terrors, repeatidly seeing my frozen corpse on the side of some street. Most of my early visions was of my death, either from exposure to the cold, or from starvation. Sometimes I was stabbed, o...

Eris, the Fallen One
To walk the path of an immortal, the price you pay may very well be your soul. But after payed, you can bare your fangs against even the gods. I once was mortal, aging ever so slowly, clawling ever so closer to Yoma's cold embrace. But on that day when I could have passed well into her realm, I smil...

Re: Chronicles of the battles for the Ardir Forest
I can't imagine the horror that went through the eyes of those humans, or the madness that ensued. Even now, the bodies buried, I can smell the blood in the air. Maybe its just a memory? I can't say for sure. All I know is that a depression has settled over us that in my lifetime I can't recall. Whi...

Re: Chronicles of the battles for the Ardir Forest
Azala clutched his weapon apprehensively, gauging its weight one more time out of habit more than anything else. The humans had apparently decided on a leader, a youngish human with dark hair and a smug look about him. Still, they're disorganized, and Azala knew that would work well to thier favor. ...

Re: Chronicles of the battles for the Ardir Forest
I'll be the first to admit that my position is primarily for emergencies and decisions that are just below what would be considered the council's jurisdiction. Indeed, most ranger groups are made of two to five members, and are generally autonomous and able to make thier own decisions. In truth, our...

Re: Chronicles of the battles for the Ardir Forest
"Its only a matter of time before they send a much larger force to deal with us." Azala finished his answer, falling silent once more and deferring to the elders. "And what would you have your forces do then?" A Ochae'nafod elder stated in a gruff voice. He could only assume a predatory bond, he rec...

Re: Chronicles of the battles for the Ardir Forest
Azala stood alone, fairly uncomfortable. His face was shaved, his hair was neatly kept, and his own clothing was well kept, the high collared jacket he wore was closed and snugly fit around his neck. Despite the room seemingly filled with other people his own age, there was a several hundred year ga...

Re: Chronicles of the battles for the Ardir Forest
"After the incident between the humans and myself, the elders were called into a council. Not just of our race, but of every denizen who lived within the forest. These councils were rarely called, but unfortunately there was no choice in the matter. I myself attended, primarily to give a report on w...

Re: Chronicles of the battles for the Ardir Forest
"Who goes there!?" One of the armored individuals stated, unsheathing a blade. Azala had no reaction to him, and his ears could pick up the sound of arrows being notched. Fortunately, the Knight raised his hand, silencing his troops, and hopefully keeping them in line for the time being. "Who are yo...

Re: Chronicles of the battles for the Ardir Forest
While Azala generally moved slowly, most situations found him lounging, at the moment his true speed was being shown. In the forest canopy, he jumped from branch to branch effortlessly, with speed that even a horse migth have trouble keeping up with. At his flank he was followed by Malona, Desra, Ca...

Re: Chronicles of the battles for the Ardir Forest
The farmers surrounding the Ardir Forest have been evicted, some of which have been there for a few generations, and have long been allowed to live near our borders on the principal of our laws and systems. Most have benefitted from our system of Culling diseased trees or dying trees around our home...

Chronicles of the battles for the Ardir Forest
"I write this primarily out of simple duty, i'm not much of a writer, and i've never taken a liking to a measure of work that this will likely entail, but if I don't then future generations may not fully understand the reason why we took so many lives. That, and i'm being forced to write it by sever...

Re: Guns?
From what i've gathered, oldest type of guns were basically fireworks on a stick. Terribly inaccurate, but terribly destructive. They were effective against larger armies, primarily considering accuracy isnt necissarily needed when your facing something that size (broad side of a barn). I'd say no t...
